From as young as I can remember I have been around boats. As a family we always took our power boat on holiday to the south coast or Cornwall, while my uncle was the sailor and introduced me to sailing. As an adult, I have been lucky enough to always own a Rib and in 2021 started a company offering boat club membership, powerboat training and skippered motor cruisers for charter with Chris. I gained my ski boat driver qualification to allow me to drive slalom ski and wakeboard boats. I am also an RYA Powerboat Instructor and Charter Skipper.

Chris Weld - Director and Principle

I started sailing dinghies in Chichester Harbour as a child, became a Sailing Instructor, taught sailing all-over the world and Skippered Yachts in the Whitsundays, Australia. I have been driving powerboats most of my life I am a Commercially endorsed Advanced Powerboat Instructor, First Aid Instructor, RYA Marine Radio Assessor and Charter Skipper. Paddy and I set up Chichester Boat Club in 2021 and along with running the Club I am Principle of the Training Centre.

Paul Pearson - Chief Instructor

I was brought up on the beaches of Mombasa, Kenya and have been sailing since childhood. Have competed in many R.O.R.C events, including Fastnet, Round Britain race. A lot of sailing in Turkey, Greece and Balearic Islands as skipper/crew. Between 1994 and 1996 I skippered a 48ft Trintela Yacht round the world in the World Cruising Raly. This was a paid position. Since returning from the round the world trip have sailed with charities which take disabled people sailing in The Solent. I have also helped and advised couples who are planning extensive cruising/round the world trips. I am a Commercial Endorsed Yachtmaster offshore, RYA Cruising Instructor Power, RYA Advanced Powerboat Instructor and RYA Marine Radio Assessor. I joined Chichester Boat Club in 2024 as its Chief Instructor.

Patrick Weld - Head of Operations

I joined Chichester Boat Club in 2024 having done a Project Management Degree Apprenticeship at Rolls Royce. I grew up around boats and have a love for the water so working for Chichester Boat Club has combined my passions. I have a very varied role within the company, from making sure the operation runs smoothly to organising events and I even get to Skippers the boats.

Max Brereton - Instructor

I have been afloat since a young age and quickly developed a passion for teaching others to enjoy the water. Having taught overseas for active holiday companies I have settled in East Wittering and make the most of the beach for going surfing, windsurfing & kitesurfing. Inbetween instructing and heading out for pleasure I’ll be at a sewing machine making bags, covers and fixing all sorts of things! I am a Powerboat Instructor, Safety Boat Instructor, Senior Dinghy and Windsurfing Instructor.
