The RYA Powerboat Level 2 course is the ideal next step if you want to become a more capable powerboat driver, whether you are new to boating, looking to build confidence, or need the qualification as the basis for an International Certificate of Competence. Run from Chichester Harbour on one of our RIBs, this practical two-day course gives you hands-on experience in boat handling, seamanship, safety and decision-making, all with supportive instruction from the Chichester Boat Club team.
Course Overview
The RYA Powerboat Level 2 course provides the skills and background knowledge needed by a competent powerboat driver. You will learn how to handle a powerboat safely at low speed, manoeuvre in close quarters, recover a man overboard, understand key collision regulations and gain an introduction to driving at planing speed. This is a practical, confidence-building course designed to help you feel more capable on the water. Training takes place on one of our RIBs, giving you real experience in a responsive powerboat and the opportunity to learn in the conditions of Chichester Harbour. The certificate issued will be endorsed to show the type of boat in which the training took place.
